Pokémon - World Championships Trailer (San Francisco)

Production-ready graphics built to live inside real San Francisco footage.

For Pokémon’s trailer teasing the World Championships in San Francisco, I developed key visuals and video assets used by Tantrum’s VFX team to integrate seamlessly into live-action footage. I delivered production-ready matte painting files and motion inserts across four scenes. Building believable, on-brand environmental graphics that enhance the world without distracting from the story.

❋ More Details
  • Pokémon wanted a teaser trailer for the World Championships in San Francisco. Tantrum handled post-production, creating visual effects and key visuals to be integrated into live-action footage.

  • As the Graphic Designer, I developed VFX-ready key visuals, delivering layered matte painting files and motion inserts that VFX artists could composite directly into the footage.

  • I designed concepts with on-camera readability and realism in mind. Then I packaged assets as organized, workable files for hand-off to VFX artists, ensuring each element could integrate cleanly and maintain continuity across shots.

  • Focused on believable environmental storytelling: strong silhouettes, controlled detail, and lighting/contrast choices that would hold up in live action while still feeling stylized and on brand.

  • Concepts were refined based on integration needs: adjusting detail, contrast, and scale to ensure the assets read naturally in-scene without pulling focus.

  • Deliverables included a jumbotron motion insert, a custom glowing manhole concept with matte painting assets, a trolley-side advertisement graphic, and a custom crosswalk design with matte assets for VFX integration.
